These days people are pinching pennies and living frugally, but we want to know: What's the last thing you splurged on?
SHOES!!!!!
...but with good reason. Since I'm on my feet for 8 hours plus, I need shoes that won't make me want to saw off my feet at the end of the day. Sooooo, I have purchased or will purchase these shoes regardless of what they cost. I see it as an investment. I don't want to have funky feet problems, back aches, varicose veins, etc. So out are the high heels, flats with no support are no-nos and since dress code prevents me from wearing anything that remotely resembles a sneaker, they are out, too.
Nurture "Scarlet". Drk. Blue. LOVE at first sight at Dillards. 40% off! My fancy shoes. Super duper soft insoles...like walking on pillows!
After rave reviews, I got these uber cute Dansko Marcelle mary jane clogs in claret (red). These will be my everyday workhorse shoes. Waiting for them to come in from the Whole Earth Provision store in Dallas. ON sale for $90...reg. $120.
Merrell "Pointe" in taupe. I love these cute little slip-ons. They come in red, too. I may get both colors when I pick up my Dansko shoes. They have an antimicrobial treated insoles and they are very soft, too! Only $80.
Here's one for the ladies: What's in your handbag right now?

My wallet, sunnies, anti-bacterial wipes for public restroom usage, which I really really try to avoid, hubby's stuff: wallet, giant sunnies, keys, eye drops, allergy meds, ass wipes for his delicate ass, hat so he won't get anymore sunspots on his bald head...he really needs to get his own damn man bag so he can carry my stuff. LOL! My purse went from being a tiny thing to a full on over-night bag. I miss light weight purses...my freaking shoulder is killing me! I'm now using a small camera backpack to haul our shit around Walmart. *_~
2008 is the Year of the Rat. Which animal year were you born in?
Diplomatic and popular, the Snake has the sensual art of seduction down. This Sign is an interesting mix of gregariousness paired with introversion, intuitive reasoning paired with savvy business skills. Snakes tend to hang back a bit in order to analyze a situation before jumping into it. Their charming, seductive quality actually belies a rather retiring nature; this Sign is perfectly happy to spend the whole day curled up with a good book and, thus, can be mislabeled as being lazy.
The Snake is somewhat insecure deep down and tend to be a rather jealous, possessive lover, behavior that can end up alienating loved ones. Despite these less-than-stellar tendencies, however, the Snake often proves irresistible and is a generous, loving partner. Slightly dangerous and disarmingly smart, the Snake's philosophical and intuitive mind generally supersedes logic in favor of feelings and instinct. Snakes will rely on their own gut reactions and intuitions before turning to others for suggestions. This makes this Sign a great hand in any business venture, possessing the caution and smarts needed to get ahead.
Snakes are hard workers (when they see good reason to be!) and are possessed of a keen intelligence. Snakes have incredible follow-through, once they get going, and they expect the same from others. Thus, their coworkers and employees had best stay on their toes, lest they anger the Snake and suffer its poisonous bite!
In general, of course, Snakes are generous and genteel, charming and appealing. Snakes must try to learn humility and to develop a stronger sense of self. Once Snakes realize that confidence comes from within, they will finally be comfortable in their own skin.
And from good ol' Wiki:
The person born in the year of snake is the wisest and most enchanting of all. He or she can become an Ambassador, a Mediator, a restaurant owner or a talented musician. Such a person is a thinker who also likes to live well: affluence. The snake-person loves books, music, clothes, fine food and wine; but with all their fondness for the finer things in life, their innate grace and elegance gives them a dislike for frivolities, small minds and foolish talk.
Snake-persons like communicating and like interesting and challenging conversations; if the conversation becomes repetitive their attention may soon wander. It is almost impossible to fix their attention for long talking about mundane everyday habits as they prefer to focus on new, interesting and evolutionary ideas in general. The snake needs mental exercise in a conversation or relationship.
These people have a special talent that enables them to judge situations correctly. They are alert to new possibilities: when they have an idea of what to do and how to do it, they will pursue it persistently and energetically. The snake is at home in any social situation, able to adapt and converse on all levels. In Chinese astrology it is believed that they are self-confident, driven, focused and willing to listen to someone else's opinion, but don't necessarily take it 'on board'. Refusing to listen to constructive advice; intelligent and headstrong, they may be prone to getting into needless trouble.
Although it is difficult for such people to take advice, they are patient and compassionate with others when it comes to giving a helping hand, and their ability to look at a problem from a variety of angles is extremely useful. When faced with a dilemma, snake people, as a rule, act with speed and conviction, since they believe intensely in what they are doing and rarely waste time or energy on projects lacking in good potential.
Pretty accurate if you ask me ;-)
P.S. I'm a Cancer in the western astrological realm.
